Wanna be on top?

After work I had some interesting meetings:

1. Met with Janet and Carol of Redwood Entertainment with Joe Stebbins, a booking agent.
He wanted to introduce me to Naima, who he has been working with a bit.
What I didn't realize was that it was Naima, winner of Cycle 4 on America's Next Top Model.
She also sings in a Rock Band called Galaxy of Tar.
She does some appearances in gay clubs, and we may team up for some bookings.
Was awesome to meet her!

2. Went to Tea Lounge in Park Slope to meet with Lily O'Brien, who may work with me on some PR.
She was wonderful.

So, I have some decisions to make.

But it's ok, life is grand.

Audition & Exhaustion

What a long week...
Played for day #2 of auditions for this Motown review...
Loved those girls!

Had a great meeting with Janet today of Redwood Entertainment
I get a great business yet motherly vibe from her.

Auditioned for a Michael Jackson revue that I was recommended for.
They said it wasn't gonna work for this show.
Auditions can be so frustrating because you rarely get much feedback.
You have no idea sometimes what they are looking for,
and if you missed the mark, or don't have the right look, or what is going on in their heads.
But you have to keep your head up, and develop a thick skin.
But can that really be developed?
I will probably always be the sensitive artist / perfectionist that I am,
but will hopefully learn more and more how to deal with rejection, criticism, & hearing the word "No."

Played tonight at "Bowery Electric" with "The Bloodsugars."
That place is freakin cool!

Republic of Adam Shenk

Good day today.....things are moving...

GREAT (most overused word in this blog) bikram class at Yoga to the People.

Then a lunch meeting with Janet Castiel of Redwood Entertainment. It went well, I got a good vibe off of her, and am going to start on a marketing campaign with her company. This is a step in the right direction for me, as they will do a lot with marketing and publicity for me, as well as serve as management for the time being.

Not to mention, Republic, the restaurant we had lunch at was awesome...I had a pulled pork Vietnamese Sandwich (I have a minor obsession now with Vietnamese Sandwiches).

I have a lot to do now to push the CD through printing, and getting all the material that is requested to Redwood Entertainment so they can get me started. I have to decide on 3 songs from the new album to be put on internet radio, and of course, aaaaaah, how will I decide?

Late night

Don't look at the time....aaaah.....up sooo late....took a LONG nap this afternoon, so my schedule is all messed up.

Pretty unproductive day, but got a few things done....

Tomorrow meeting with Janet Castiel from Redwood Entertainment. May be signing with them to help with marketing...Hope it goes well!!
